Elizabeth Short
The Black Dahlia

she was found mutilated, her body sliced in half at the waist, on January 15/1947, in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, California.

I love unsolved murders

LOL I'm more productive when I'm under exams pressure!

I am not a fan of making artwork out of real tragedies BUT your style here is so fantastic, and seems kind to the victim. Her beauty is so stunning here, shines right through the scars. Well done.

Yes I enjoy reading and watching unsolved murder cases. This is rather graphic, well drawn but freaky!!!
So the killer tormented the police with little notes and a garment of hers but he doused in gasoline to remove all prints. I doubt the killer is alive today but still......
its beyond horrendous how she died

That is a well drawn depiction.
Her body was pretty  much in pieces.
I personally think it was a stalker or lovers tiff but stalker comes to mind.
I would rather it be solved than unsolved but yes there are fascinating elements about unsolved murders

I am interested in it too. Her story is tragic. Did you hear that recently a former LA investigator, named Steve Hodel who researched and investigated the case made a claim that he discovered who did it . It was seems to be his own father, Doctor George Hill Hodel, who was well acquainted with top people at the time of the murder, and who was an expert doctor and surgeon, and according to the autopsy cutting body in half was done by someone who was skillful in anatomy. Steve Hodel wrote a book, Black Dahlia Avenger in 2003 and updated it in 2014. I just wanted to know what is your opinion on this. Do you believe Mr. Hodel solved the case?

I have looked at the site and IMO it seems to me a likely possibility. A doctor knows how to drain blood and remove body parts better than your local serial killer....
there is no evidence this was the act of a serial killer.
Nip tuck the TV show based their "Carver" story arc throughout season two/three on the Dahlia by slitting the mouths of women who were beautiful....

Likely and anything is possible. There is also another suspect. One of the detectives at the time of murder got a tip from one of the residents in the area about seeing a white car at the scene of the murder night before the mutilated body of Elizabeth Short was discovered. Acting on the tip detective Ralph Asdel has tracked the owner of the car to the restaurant which Elizabeth Short frequented. The suspect worked as a cook. It seems after newspapers reported about white car, the suspect supposedly repainted his car black. In addition further digging also revealed to me that the cooks wife reported that her husband at the time of the murder dissapeared for few days and she did not know where he went. On the morning of January 15th he showed up at home and was hosing his cars trunk, and apparently worked as a buthcer at one time. I got info from program about the murder which was released in 1999, called case reopened black dahlia. It is available on YouTube in italian , and with subtitles it is hard to understand. This what I understood. What do you think of it?

I have been skeptical of Steve Hodel lately, largely because he claims that his father was the zodiac killer, who operated in California from 1968 to 1974. Witnesses describe the man in his late 20s early 30s, while Dr. George Hodel was in his late 60s.

So he cannot be Zodiac Killer. If he claim stuff like this, how truthful are his other claims?

Yes I saw some clips of that on youtube which seemed a little unrealistic. As you said the man described as the Zodiac was likely to be late 20s and probably mid thirties by the time the murders ended?
The other guy, the cook could have easily done it. It was most likely a male given the appeal this Elizabeth Short had.
I know Hodel said in the interview that his Dad told his mother HE killed Elizabeth short. It could be possible but as far as the Zodiac killer goes, one of the most popular theories it would seem is that the "Sole survivor" of the Zodiacs attempt at murder was in fact the Zodiac himself, hence such vivid description of the man and the clothing he wore etc. Its happened before in a case where a poor little girl was murdered by the woman next door in the local trailer park and forged notes from the "abductor" and all this time the girl was dead.... She was also the only "witness" to the abduction so yes sometimes it IS the "witnesses" Hey it make for a plausible explanation?

Yes it does. For Elizabeth Short the only ways to find truth is either we find a way to speak from the grave or if there is someone who knows something about the killing and tells this information to the police.

indeed. There is surely someone covering something up. Hollywood actress who was provocative in films, she sadly was an easy target

Mr. Hodel also claims that George Hodel was prime suspect shortly after the murder, and also one of the Mr. Hodel's claims is that few private detectives stated privately that they solved the case, and knew who did, which was a doctor who lived on 5121 franklin avenue in snowden house, which at time would be Dr. George Hodel. However fromn what Steve Hodel said is that his father fled the US before detectives with police can arrest him. Not knowing where he went, and also with corrucption, scandals, fear of LAPD reputation ruined in eyes of public, big egos, and George Hodel's connections with influencial people, the case was swept under the rug, and declared officially unsolved. This what I understood.
Here's the interview that was done a while ago.

Elizabeth was a party/playgirl who liked to live life on the edge; she traveled alone and often went out with men she didn't know very well which is something I would never do. In short, her lifestyle made her very vulnerable to this kind of crime. Eventually, she crossed paths with the wrong kind of man and that's what got her killed. Its unfortunate that the forensic technology of the 40s was not as sophisticated as now or we would have found the killer long ago.
